How do I get a transcript?
Premiere already makes one for free. Open the Text panel, click Transcribe sequence, wait about a minute, then export the JSON. Drag the file onto OneCut and you're cutting. No third-party transcription service, no extra subscription.
Does it remove silence and filler words?
Yes, that's Quick mode's default. Drop a single clip on the timeline, hit Make a clean cut, and OneCut tightens the dead air, the long pauses, and the false starts. Toggle on filler-word removal and every um, uh, and like gets stripped from your kept moments too. None of this calls an AI; it runs locally off the transcript.
Can I export captions for the new cut?
Yes. After OneCut writes the new sequence, the result screen has an Export SRT button. The captions are aligned to the new timeline, not the original, so you can drop the SRT straight onto V2 and ship.
What about brand names, foreign words, or weird spellings?
You can give OneCut a small dictionary of fixes (your brand, your collaborators, Korean or Japanese transliterations, anything Premiere's transcription mangles). It applies the fixes wherever the words appear in your transcript before it generates the cut, so they spell right in the captions and in the AI's reasoning.
Will it ruin my B-roll, music, color grades, captions?
No. If your timeline already has B-roll, music beds, captions and color grades, OneCut leaves them all where they are. It only removes the gaps between the moments you keep. Your edit stays your edit; the timeline just gets tighter.
Can I limit OneCut to just part of my timeline?
Yes. Set in and out markers in Premiere on the section you want to work on. OneCut clamps every cut inside that range and leaves everything outside it untouched. Useful for long podcasts where you only want to clean up a single segment.
Where does my footage get sent?
Nowhere. Silence cutting and filler removal run locally off the transcript text. When you use a prompt or Story mode, only the transcript text is sent to the AI provider so it can pick the right moments. Your video files never leave your machine.
Which AI does it use?
A frontier model tuned for editorial reasoning. The model selection is handled for you. We keep it on whatever's currently best at picking the right moments. Power users can plug their own key (Anthropic / OpenAI) into the panel settings if they prefer, but you don't have to think about it.
Are there any extra costs on top of the subscription?
No. The subscription covers everything. The AI is on us. Up to 100 cuts a month is included, which is well above what most editors run. If you somehow hit the cap, we'll let you know and you can either upgrade or plug in your own AI key for unlimited use.
Does it work for podcasts and long-form content?
Yes. OneCut has been tested on 2-hour transcripts. Tell Story Mode roughly how long you want the cut and it'll aim for that, not your full source duration.
Which languages are supported?
OneCut reads transcripts in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Dutch, Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin), Hindi and Korean. Premiere generates the transcript locally in any of these — drop the JSON onto OneCut and Story Mode picks the moments in the same language.
Refunds?
7 days, no questions asked. If OneCut doesn't earn back its price in saved time on your very first cut, email us and we'll refund you.
