WeddX vs Wedit for a wedding film in Premiere Pro

Both build a first cut of the wedding film that you finish yourself.

WeddX is a Premiere Pro extension for Mac and Windows that builds the film as a story right on your Premiere timeline. Wedit is a separate desktop app for Apple silicon Macs and Windows: you upload the wedding, it builds a highlight film, a full movie in chapters or a ceremony multicam, and you export the timeline to Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.

The lavender dove wedding-editor mascot weighs two cards on a balance: a Premiere timeline and a separate app with synced audio.

Which one fits you?

The same job, done in two different places. Here’s when each one is the better pick.

Fits better if…

Wedit

  • You cut in DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro, or move between editors. Wedit exports to all three; WeddX runs only in Premiere Pro.
  • You’d rather pay per wedding. Its pricing lists $119 for Highlights and $89 for a Full movie, per wedding.
  • You shoot a lot of weddings. Its launch offer is unlimited weddings for $699 a month, through 31 October 2026.
  • You want a ceremony multicam as its own edit. Its FAQ says Ceremony Multicam takes up to five video files and up to five recorder files.
  • You want to set it going and walk away. Once the upload finishes you can close the app, and it emails you when the film is ready.
Fits better if…

WeddX

We make this
  • You edit on an Intel Mac. Wedit lists Apple silicon Macs; WeddX runs on Apple silicon, Intel and Windows.
  • You want the film built inside Premiere Pro, on your own timeline, with no XML to import or media to relink.
  • You want to swap shots after the cut is built, inside Premiere: click a shot, pick one of the best alternatives, undo anytime.
  • You want the finishing in the same place: color, black-and-white moments, film burns, titles, 16:9 or 9:16 export, and a preview link the couple can leave notes on.
  • You also deliver the whole ceremony and speeches. Uncut lays them out in full on synced camera and recorder audio, with no music.
  • You edit as a team. WeddX plans include 1, 2 or 5 seats.
  • You want to try it on a real wedding first. The trial is 3 days for $1, with 5 analysis hours.

What WeddX doesn’t do

Worth knowing before you try it.

The lavender dove wedding-editor mascot raises one wing as if taking an oath.
  • It doesn’t finish the film for you. It builds the first cut; the eye, the taste and the final say are yours.
  • It doesn’t run outside Premiere Pro. Not in DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.
  • It doesn’t pick camera angles by who is speaking. In Feature film and Uncut it switches angles on a steady rhythm over one continuous audio take.
  • It doesn’t work offline. Analysis runs in the cloud, so you need an internet connection while it works.
  • It isn’t priced per wedding. Plans include 15, 40 or 100 analysis hours of footage a month; unused hours roll over while you’re subscribed.

Questions people ask

Installing, plans and every setting are in the WeddX docs.

Is WeddX an alternative to Wedit?

Yes. Both build a first cut of a wedding film from your footage and your songs that you finish in Premiere Pro. WeddX is a wedding video editor plugin that does it inside Premiere Pro. Wedit is its own desktop app: you upload the wedding, it builds a highlight or full film, and you export the timeline to Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.

Does Wedit work with Premiere Pro?

Yes, by export. Its export page says to use the Premiere XML export and import that XML into Premiere Pro, and that the XML describes the edit but doesn’t contain your footage, so Premiere may ask you to locate the original files. WeddX builds its cut as a normal sequence right on your Premiere timeline.

Does Wedit upload my footage?

Its FAQ says it prepares lightweight proxy copies for cloud processing and your original files stay on your computer, and you keep the app open until the upload finishes. WeddX uploads a small copy of each clip (320 pixels wide, one frame a second) for analysis and deletes it when the analysis is done; it never uploads your originals, and it builds the cut on your computer.

Does Wedit run on Windows or an Intel Mac?

On Windows, yes: its FAQ lists 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. On Mac, it lists Apple silicon Macs with macOS 13 or later. WeddX runs on Apple silicon and Intel Macs and on Windows.

How do the prices compare?

Wedit charges per wedding: $119 for Highlights and $89 for a Full movie, or $699 a month for unlimited weddings through 31 October 2026, and your first project is included. WeddX is a subscription from $39/mo with 15 analysis hours a month, priced by hours of footage rather than weddings, and the trial is 3 days for $1, with 5 analysis hours.

Is this comparison neutral?

No comparison written by one of the two makers is neutral, and we make WeddX. So every Wedit fact comes from Wedit’s own pages, linked and dated, and we leave out any opinion of its quality. Spot an error? Email support@pxlsafe.com and we’ll fix it.
