Is there an AI that can edit a music video for you?
Short answer: yes, if you’ve already shot the footage. An AI music video editor such as MVX AI runs inside Adobe Premiere Pro. You drop in the song and your clips, and it sorts performance from B-roll, cuts on the beat and picks a shot for each cut. You’re left with an editable Premiere timeline to finish. If you have no footage, you need a different kind of tool: an AI video generator that makes new visuals from the song.

Three different things people call an “AI music video editor”
- Generators make new visuals from a song or a text prompt. You don’t need footage, but the result isn’t your shoot. Many “best AI music video” lists cover mainly this kind (example list, 15 Oct 2026).
- Online template editors cut your uploaded clips, or stock clips, to a style and render a video file. Rotor Videos works this way.
- Editing plugins inside Premiere Pro work on the footage you shot, on your own timeline, so you keep full control. MVX AI, AutoEdit Music Video Mode and Auto Edit Clip are this kind. BeatEdit with Premiere’s Automate to Sequence is the hands-on route: beat markers on your timeline, then your clips dropped onto them in the order you set.

Which one fits you
- You edit in Premiere, shot performance takes plus B-roll, and want the AI to choose shots: MVX AI or AutoEdit Music Video Mode. MVX costs $1 to try for 3 days, then runs monthly or yearly. AutoEdit is a single purchase, and its page says your takes must cover the full song and be MOV or MP4.
- You already use Blinkl or AutoCut and like arranging shots by track priority yourself: Auto Edit Clip.
- You don’t edit in Premiere, or you have no footage: Rotor, which has a stock library, or an AI video generator.
- You want every cut under your control: BeatEdit’s beat markers plus Premiere’s Automate to Sequence, then arrange the shots yourself.
How MVX AI edits a music video
- 1
Drop in the song and your clips
MVX splits performance from B-roll, files them into bins and syncs each take to the song from its audio.
- 2
Pick what the cuts follow and how fast
Kicks, drums or beats, and the pace. The markers move on your Premiere timeline as you drag.
- 3
Run AI Cut
It chooses the best moment from your footage for each cut and builds a normal Premiere sequence.
- 4
Review
Click any shot to see the best alternatives, swap one in two clicks, and undo anytime.
- 5
Finish
Shot in log? MVX converts it for your camera and adds a look as one adjustable layer, plus zooms, flashes and transitions placed on the beat. Then you edit it like any other timeline.
A walkthrough of MVX 3.0 with the founder is on the MVX AI page.
What MVX AI doesn’t do
- It doesn’t generate video. It edits footage you shot.
- It makes the first cut; you finish the edit.
- It runs only in Premiere Pro 2023+, not in Final Cut or Resolve.
- AI clip sorting and shot selection run in the cloud, so you need internet.
- Auto-sync needs the song audible in each performance take. Takes without it are treated as B-roll.
- Analysis hours are capped per plan (10 or 30 a month). Unused hours roll over while you’re subscribed, and 20 more cost $29.99.
- There’s no one-time price for new customers. Older lifetime licenses are still honored.
FAQ
Can AI edit a music video for me?
Yes, if you have the footage. Plugins like MVX AI build the first cut inside Premiere Pro: sorted clips, cuts on the beat and a chosen shot for each cut. You refine it from there. Without footage, use an AI video generator.
Does MVX AI work inside Premiere Pro?
Yes. It’s an extension for Adobe Premiere Pro 2023 or later on macOS and Windows, and it produces a normal Premiere timeline.
Does MVX AI generate video?
No. It edits the clips you shot.
Do my takes need to run the full length of the song?
No. MVX finds where each take sits in the song from its audio and places it there, so a take of just the chorus lines up with the chorus. The song has to be audible in the take (playback on set). Clips without it are treated as B-roll.
How is MVX AI different from AutoEdit?
Both build a music video rough cut from your footage inside Premiere Pro. AutoEdit Music Video Mode is a one-time purchase for Premiere Pro 2024+, and its product page asks for MOV or MP4 files and takes that run the full song. MVX AI is a subscription for Premiere Pro 2023+ and places takes that cover only part of the song. See MVX AI vs AutoEdit for the side-by-side.
What does MVX AI cost?
Starter is $29/month or $290/year with 10 analysis hours a month on 1 computer. Pro is $59/month or $590/year with 30 hours on 2 computers. The 3-day trial costs $1 and includes 5 analysis hours. Cancel before it ends and nothing more is charged.
Does it need an internet connection?
Cloud AI clip sorting and shot selection do. Local beat detection and the effects library work offline.
